The Skeleton Men were the disguises of Dr. Grimsley, and his two henchmen. They were hijacking Weather Eye planes and trying to illegally sell them overseas.

In 1969 Hanna-Barbera Productions first aired Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! This Saturday-morning cartoon series featured teenagers Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, and their talking brown Great Dane named Scooby-Doo who solve mysteries involving supposedly supernatural creatures through antics and mis-steps. The group travels in the Mystery Machine, a blue and green van decorated with orange flowers, solving mysteries involving local legends; in doing so, they discover that the perpetrator is almost invariably a disguised person who seeks to exploit the legend for personal gain.
