Cornelius is a chimpanzee archaeologist and historian, appearing in the original novel of Planet Of The Apes, and also the first three installments of the classic movie series of the same name, from the 1960s and 1970s. He was portrayed mainly by actor Roddy McDowall, but also by David Watson in the second movie Beneath The Planet of The Apes.

In 1968's Planet Of The Apes, Cornelius is introduced as the fiancé of Dr Zira, an animal psychologist and veterinarian (who specializes in working with humans), both of whom are on the scientific staff of Dr Zaius. While supporting the status quo, Cornelius has begun to question the infallibility of the Sacred Scrolls, which give the traditional history of the ape society, and is considering the validity of evolution (specifically, from human to ape) to explain the scientific gaps in the scrolls.

About MEGO Corporation

Originally founded in 1954 by Dave Abrams, Marty Abrams, now commonly known as 'the father of action figures,' took the helm of the company in 1971 and shifted the direction to licensed action figures.  He included the 'World’s Greatest Super Heroes' line), celebrity dolls, and the Micronauts toy line. Mego became famous for its 8-inch scale figures with interchangeable bodies. Eventually, this became an industry standard.

Mego Corporation re-launched in 2018 with a partnership between Marty Abrams and Joel Rosenzweig, focusing on 8-inch Action figures and launching with popular licenses from CBS, Warner Brothers, Sony, and Epic.
